The national Olympic team won against its Argentinian counterpart by a score of 2 goals to 1, today Wednesday July 24, 2024 at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium in Saint-Etienne, in a match of the first day of group B of the Olympic tournament of the Paris-2024 Games.
Soufiane Rahimi scored twice in this match: a first goal in added time of the first half and a brilliantly converted penalty in the 51st minute.
Let us recall that Argentina had equalised in the 114th and final minute at the final whistle except that the return to VAR maintained the initial result of 2-1 after the second goal of Argentina was found to be offside, which prompted the referee to call the players back from the locker room to resume three minutes of play remaining, behind closed doors, in which the Lionceaux maintained their 2-1 lead.
An incredible match where the referee from Saudi Arabia was the undisputed hero for having favoured the Argentinians on many occasions and adding 15 minutes of additional time which aroused the astonishment of all sports observers.
The next match of the Atlas Lions in the group stage is scheduled for Saturday, July 27 against Ukraine. The match will kick off at 16:00 Moroccan time (17:00 HL).
