Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, revealed that a Moroccan official filed a complaint against him with the Ethics Committee of FIFA, with the aim of challenging the legality of his election as a member of the FIFA Executive Committee.
The Assabah newspaper reported in its issue published today, Saturday, that Lekjaa addressed this challenge during a meeting of the Executive Office of the Federation last Thursday, within the framework of discussing amendments related to the decisions of the Ethics Committee and the possibility of appealing them. Lekjaa called on the professional league to include an explicit amendment stipulating that the committee's decisions are final and cannot be appealed, similar to what is practiced within FIFA. The federation president did not disclose details of the complaint or its content, contenting himself with indicating that the challenge relates to allegations of a legal impediment affecting the legitimacy of his election within the international football body, stressing that this did not affect his current status in any way. Lekjaa also stressed the need for the decisions of the Ethics Committee, especially those related to arbitration or objections to decisions, to be final to avoid resorting to international judicial bodies to appeal them.
