QatarEnergy announced on Monday, March 2nd, the suspension of liquefied natural gas production, following Iranian attacks on its operational facilities in two locations, amid strikes carried out by Tehran against Gulf countries in response to the American-Israeli attack that began on Saturday.
QatarEnergy, a government-owned company, stated in a statement, "Due to a military attack on its operational facilities in Ras Laffan Industrial City and Mesaieed Industrial City in the State of Qatar, QatarEnergy has stopped the production of liquefied natural gas and related products." Before the announcement, the Ministry of Defense said that two Iranian drones targeted a power station and an energy facility in Qatar on Monday. The ministry indicated that a drone targeted a water tank belonging to a power generation station in Mesaieed, south of Doha, while another drone targeted an energy facility in Ras Laffan on the northern coast, which is the main site in Qatar for the production of liquefied natural gas. The ministry indicated that there were no reports of injuries. Qatar is one of the largest producers of liquefied natural gas in the world, along with the United States, Australia, and Russia.
