The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs delivered an official memorandum to the Iranian embassy in Doha, stating that Qatar considers the military attaché and the security attaché at the embassy, in addition to the staff working in the two attachés, as undesirable persons and requests that they leave its territory within a maximum of 24 hours.
This came during a meeting held by the Director of the Protocol Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ibrahim Yousef Fakhroo, on Wednesday with the Iranian Ambassador to Qatar, Ali Saleh Abadi. The Qatari Foreign Ministry explained that this decision "comes against the backdrop of repeated Iranian targeting and the brutal aggression that affected the State of Qatar and violated its sovereignty and security, in flagrant violation of the principles of international law and Security Council Resolution 2817 and the rules of good neighborliness." It also stressed that the continuation of the Iranian side in this hostile approach will be met with Qatar taking additional measures, including ensuring the protection of its sovereignty, security, and national interests. Qatar affirmed that it reserves its right to take the necessary measures to protect its sovereignty and security, in accordance with the provisions of international law.
