Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi affirmed that his country supports Iran in protecting its sovereignty, security, territorial integrity, legitimate rights, and interests.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry statement quoted the minister as saying: "China calls on the United States and Israel to immediately cease military operations to prevent the conflict from spreading throughout the Middle East." The statement added: "China expresses its confidence that Iran, under the current complex situation, will be able to maintain its national and social stability." The Russian Foreign Ministry had called in its statement today on "the parties to the conflict in the Middle East to abandon the use of force to resolve disputes… and to move towards resolving issues through political and diplomatic means."
