Following the broadcast of news concerning sudden deaths in the emergency room of the regional hospital of Beni Mellal due to rising temperatures, the services of the regional directorate of health and social protection of Beni Mellal-Khénifra opened an immediate investigation to elucidate the real causes of this incident.
In order to avoid misunderstandings and to enlighten local and regional public opinion, the management indicated that the regional hospital center of Béni Mellal recorded, on July 24, 2024, 21 deaths, including 4 outside the hospital and 17 inside.
The management said in a statement that the majority of deaths were among people with chronic illnesses and the elderly, and that the sharp rise in temperatures had contributed to the deterioration of their health, leading to their deaths.
The services of the regional directorate of health and social protection of Béni Mellal-Khénifra call on all citizens of the region to exercise caution and avoid exposing themselves to the sun, especially during peak hours, and to consult health services if necessary, indicating that they remain at the disposal of all media in the region to provide information on this subject.
