The Iraqi U-23 team managed to overturn their deficit and beat their Ukrainian counterparts at the start of their football campaign at the Paris Olympics.
The Iraqi team ended the first half in a goalless draw, before the Ukrainian team were able to open the scoring through Valentin Rubchinsky in the 53rd minute of the match.
The Ukrainians’ advance did not last long, after Iraqi national team striker Ayman Hussein managed to equalise in the 57th minute from a penalty, before substitute Ali Jassim added the winner in the 75th minute.
With this result, the Iraqi team ranked first in group two, alongside the Moroccan team, which had previously beaten Argentina with the same result.
