HIBAPRESS
The Political Bureau of the Party of Progress and Socialism, during its last meeting, stopped at the exorbitant rise currently seen in the prices of most consumer and food products, such as meat, vegetables, fruits, and fish, in addition to the increases in fuel prices, which puts additional pressure on the purchasing power of Moroccan families, especially those with limited and middle incomes, and consequently leads to the escalation of social discontent.
In this regard, the party affirmed that this new wave of inflation cannot be justified only by climatic conditions or international fluctuations, but rather it is mainly due to manifestations of monopolies, speculation, and manipulations in the market by crisis merchants. The Party of Progress and Socialism condemns these illegal behaviors, and expresses its concern that the government is not doing everything necessary, with the required efficiency, to bear its responsibility in combating, deterring, and punishing illegal practices in the Moroccan markets, including those committed during the various stages of the transition from production to final marketing by brokers and multiple and illegitimate intermediaries. In this context, the party demanded that the government intervene urgently and effectively, in accordance with the law, in order to gradually cap the prices of gasoline and diesel; with controlling the fuel market and purifying it from conflicts of interest; and finding a practical and constructive solution to restart Samir; and implementing real monitoring of the national market; and addressing the imbalances in marketing chains; and the strict punishment of the corrupt practices of some major intermediaries, speculators, and monopolists, instead of focusing on the formal monitoring of vulnerable retail traders; and using customs and tax mechanisms to reduce prices in general.
