The Supreme Scientific Council announced that the amount of Zakat al-Fitr in cash for the year 1447 AH / 2026 AD has been set at 25 dirhams.
The Council stated, in its opinion regarding Zakat al-Fitr and its amount in kind and cash for the year 1447 AH / 2026 AD, that "the origin of it is to be given in kind from the staple food of the people of the country, equivalent to a Sa'a of the Prophet for each person, which is four Mudd, with a Mudd of the Prophet, peace be upon him, and is equivalent in weight to approximately two and a half kilograms (2.5 kilograms) of grain or flour, and it is recommended to give it after the dawn prayer, and before going to the Eid prayer. However, it is permissible to give it before Eid by two to three days, and it is also permissible to give it in value in cash." It added that "the value this year 1447 AH has been set at twenty-five dirhams (25 dirhams)", and that whoever wishes to volunteer more may do so, according to the Almighty's saying: "And whoever volunteers good, then Allah is appreciative and knowing." The Supreme Scientific Council pointed out that "it is known in Sharia and as a means of getting closer to Allah Almighty that Zakat al-Fitr is an obligatory charity, which the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, made obligatory to purify the fasting person from idle talk and obscenity and as food for the poor, so it is an obligatory act of worship by which Muslims draw near to Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, at the end of the month of Ramadan every year, seeking its reward and recompense from Him."
