HIBAPRESS – Abdellatif Baraka
The chapters of one of the digital fraud cases that has preoccupied public opinion in France continue, after media reports revealed new moves by a French investigating judge that led her to Morocco, as part of tracking money suspected of being smuggled outside French territory within a criminal network specializing in fraud through cryptocurrencies, with revenues estimated at around 11 million euros, which is equivalent to or exceeds more than 11 billion centimes.
The circulating data indicates that the suspected network carried out its operations during the years 2024 and 2025, targeting investors who own digital wallets, where it relied on the method of luring victims to face-to-face meetings in Paris before seizing their digital assets by fraudulent means. Investigations also revealed indications of the existence of extensions of criminal activity outside France, including Morocco, which prompted the French judiciary to expand the circle of investigations to include tracking the paths of suspicious funds. According to a French newspaper, the main suspect, aged 45, is currently under judicial supervision despite the suspicion that he is the mastermind of a network whose number of members is estimated at about ten people. The person in question faces charges related to fraud within an organized gang and money laundering, while the authorities continue to track the rest of those involved and the paths of the stolen money, in a case that reflects the growth of crimes related to digital assets and the complexity of their cross-border paths.
