Chicken prices in various markets and stores across the Kingdom have recorded a noticeable increase with the approach of Eid Al-Fitr, amid an increase in demand for this essential item during this time of year.
According to market data, the prices of live chicken ranged between 17 and 21 dirhams per kilogram, while the prices of ready-to-eat chicken ranged between 30 and 38 dirhams per kilogram.
Professionals attributed this increase to increased demand versus supply with the approach of Eid Al-Fitr, as families increasingly buy chicken to prepare various traditional dishes.
They also pointed out that the rise in production costs, including feed, transportation, and energy, also contributed to the pressure on prices, stressing that the market usually witnesses similar fluctuations during religious occasions and peak consumption periods.
