HIBAPRESS – I. Asmalali
Balanced acting has always been rare in Arab drama, especially when embodying villainous roles that often tend to exaggeration and screaming. Moroccan film critic Abdelkrim Wakrim stopped at the performance of the Egyptian actress Reham Abdel Ghafour in the current Ramadan season, describing her as the best actress this year, thanks to her artistic calmness and high professionalism.
Wakrim points out that Reham relied on economical facial expressions, deep glances, and studied body movements, away from any exaggerated emotions, which maintained the strength of the character's impact on the viewer and protected the series from being drawn into traditional drama.
With the events reaching the moment of arresting the character "Narges", an emotional contradiction emerged among the audience, who, despite their awareness of the character's crimes, felt a strange sympathy towards her. This interaction reflects the success of the process of "humanizing" the character, which was achieved thanks to the cooperation between deep writing, intelligent directing, and the distinctive performance of Reham Abdel Ghafour.
