US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is making a "very stupid mistake" by not wanting to help the United States open the Strait of Hormuz, but he stressed that Washington does not need help.
Trump said, during his conversation with journalists at the White House, that the United States is not yet ready to withdraw from the military operation in Iran, but "will withdraw in the very near future." He added: "We have completely eliminated the Iranian navy and air force in addition to their leaders.. I think everything has been hit in Iran." He continued: "If I hadn't ended the deal that Obama signed with Iran, we would have been on the verge of a nuclear war.. And we are now seeking to have better people at the head of Iran." Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, the US President mentioned that "NATO countries made a stupid mistake.. NATO disappointed me and I do not need the approval of Congress to leave the alliance."
