African football legend, George Weah, has entered the controversy surrounding the decision of the CAF Appeals Committee, which ruled that the Senegal national team was defeated by three goals to nil in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations against Morocco, following the withdrawal of the "Lions of Teranga" from the match.
George Weah said, in statements reported by the "Soccer 212" website: "If you want the truth… whoever leaves the field and withdraws from the match, then returns and wins… the law is clear, it is the loser." The former Liberian star confirmed the Moroccan national team's right to be crowned with the continental title with merit, in light of the unsportsmanlike events that accompanied the final, after the Senegalese players withdrew from the field before returning after more than fifteen minutes to resume the match.
