The national coach, Mohamed Wahbi, clarified that the absence of Youssef En-Nesyri from the national team list is due to a purely technical choice, and has nothing to do with any injury. This was stated during the press conference held today, Thursday, March 19, 2026, at the Mohammed VI Football Complex, dedicated to announcing the list of players for the friendly matches against Ecuador and Paraguay.
Wahbi confirmed that En-Nesyri remains among the most prominent Moroccan strikers, stressing that he is an excellent player and has his place within the national team. However, technical choices related to the nature of the stage necessitated limiting the call-up to only three strikers during this camp. The national team coach added that managing the list is subject to the logic of balance between the lines and the tactical bets that he seeks to test in the friendly matches, highlighting that such decisions do not diminish the value of the absent players. The national team is preparing to face the Ecuador national team on March 27 in Madrid, before meeting the Paraguay national team on March 31 in the French city of Lens, as part of a preparatory program aimed at assessing the readiness of the national group and testing new technical options.
