HIBAPRESS – Abdellatif Baraka
The local judicial police in the city of Taroudant, based on precise data provided by the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, were able to arrest a 35-year-old person today, Thursday, who is suspected of being involved in a robbery accompanied by assault that led to the death of a foreign citizen. The suspect has multiple prior criminal records in theft cases, and signs of mental disorder have also appeared.
A statement from the General Directorate of National Security stated that the initial research data indicates the discovery this morning of the victim's body near a "caravan" type car that he was using near a private clinic where his wife was receiving treatment. Initial examinations revealed a serious wound to the face, which is believed to have resulted from an assault with a solid tool. The same source explained that the technical investigations and field inspections, carried out in coordination between the judicial police and crime scene technicians, made it possible to identify the victim, who is a 79-year-old French citizen. The investigations also led to the identification and arrest of the suspect in the city of Inezgane, as part of a joint security operation involving the security services of Inezgane, Agadir and Taroudant. The search operation resulted in the seizure of a group of the victim's personal belongings in the possession of the suspect, which are suspected to be the proceeds of the robbery. The process of marking him also revealed that he had prior criminal records and had previously been admitted to a psychiatric hospital in Inezgane during March 2025. The suspect has been placed under custodial care as part of the judicial investigation supervised by the competent Public Prosecution, with the aim of uncovering all the circumstances and motives of this crime, while subjecting him to the necessary medical and psychological expertise to determine his mental state.
