HIBAPRESS – Abdellatif Baraka
Eid prayers in Morocco are not just a passing religious ritual, but rather the most important social and spiritual practice. Eid carries within its details the features of the authentic Moroccan identity, as people are keen to wear the most beautiful traditional clothes, the white djellaba and the yellow balgha, in an image that reflects joy and purity, while children's faces are adorned with innocent smiles that sum up the meaning of Eid in its most beautiful forms.
After performing the prayer and listening to the Eid sermon, another journey begins, which is no less important, and that is family ties and visiting relatives and loved ones. Moroccans consider this custom a fundamental pillar of the celebration, where the paths of joy intersect between homes, doors are opened to receive visitors, and tables are set with the most delicious traditional dishes that are filled with the scent of memory and nostalgia. In these visits, distances are not measured in kilometers, but by the strength of the human bonds that unite families. Everyone exchanges congratulations and sincere prayers, disagreements are forgotten, and what may be broken by the days is restored. Eid, in its essence, is an opportunity for reconciliation and forgiveness, and a new beginning written in the ink of affection. Thus, Moroccans weave the threads of their Eid between the spirituality of prayer and the warmth of the family, in a human painting that pulsates with love and solidarity. An Eid that is not complete except with a mother's laugh, a father's embrace, a gathering of brothers, and nostalgia that returns every year to confirm that true joy lies in closeness, and in those simple details that make the meaning of life.
