Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu affirmed on Monday, prior to a security review session in the Foreign Affairs and Security Committee of the Knesset, that his country seeks to strengthen its strategic position in exchange for weakening Iran, coinciding with the announcement by US President Donald Trump of a move towards negotiations to end the war.
Netanyahu's statements came in response to internal concerns about a diplomatic settlement that might benefit Tehran, as he stressed that Israel is currently in a better position, while Iran faces a critical situation. In response to the request of the chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Security Committee in the Knesset to "thwart a bad agreement with Iran," Netanyahu said: "We are working on that," according to Israeli media.
