The criminal chamber of the Court of Appeal in Tangier issued, in the early hours of Wednesday morning, a ruling that condemned the accused in the murder that took place at the regional hospital Mohammed V, and sentenced him to 30 years in prison.
The details of this incident date back to mid-February, when the accused stormed the emergency room and inflicted fatal stab wounds on the victim, who was a company manager, in front of the patients and medical staff, in a scene that left a state of shock and confusion inside the hospital. According to the data revealed by the investigations, the victim had arrived at the hospital in a humanitarian gesture to check on the condition of a minor girl who had been involved in a traffic accident by a truck belonging to the company he worked for, but the girl's father mistakenly believed that the victim was responsible for the accident, which prompted him to carry out a bloody assault that ended in a murder. Immediately after the crime, the security services in the city of Tangier mobilized their various elements, where they launched intensive field and technical investigations that enabled them to identify the suspect and arrest him in a short time after he tried to escape, and the white weapon used in the assault was seized. The accused was placed under the supervision of the public prosecution, before being brought before the judiciary and prosecuted on heavy charges, including premeditated murder, which were the charges that the judicial body was convinced of, to decide to impose a severe prison sentence against him. This crime at that time left a wide wave of condemnation, especially since it occurred within a space that is supposed to be dedicated to treatment and the provision of first aid, which brought back to the forefront demands to enhance security within health institutions and ensure the protection of medical staff and users.
