On March 30, 2026, a high-level strategic seminar was held, organized by AEGIS in partnership with the Ministry of Industry and Trade. It was dedicated to protecting pharmaceutical production environments from cyber threats, in a move considered the first of its kind on the national industrial system level.

This meeting formed a platform bringing together representatives from the public and private sectors, along with experts and specialists, to discuss the increasing challenges related to the cybersecurity of operational technology (OT), considered a fundamental pillar to enhance the competitiveness of the pharmaceutical industry and ensure the continuity of its production.

The organization of this seminar comes in the context of the profound transformations that the pharmaceutical sector in Morocco is witnessing, as it seeks to strengthen health sovereignty and engage with the requirements of international markets, especially with the acceleration of the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies, which have provided advanced possibilities in automation and smart connectivity, but have, in return, widened the scope of exposure to cyber attacks.

During the seminar's work, it was emphasized that operational technology environments, which were previously considered isolated and secure, have become a direct target of digital attacks, which may lead to the disruption of pharmaceutical production lines and affect the availability of medicines and patient safety.

The meeting program was divided into several axes that combined the strategic and practical dimensions, where the importance of linking cybersecurity and health sovereignty was addressed, in addition to presenting national industrial ambitions in light of digital transformation, with the presentation of a joint security operations center (SOC IT/OT) project dedicated to pharmaceutical production environments.

The practical aspect also formed a prominent stop in the seminar, through the presentation of a live demonstration simulating a cyber attack targeting a production line, followed by a review of monitoring and immediate response mechanisms using advanced solutions, under the supervision of FlexITSecurity experts and its partners.

The speakers confirmed that industrial cybersecurity is no longer just a technical option, but has become a strategic necessity imposed by the challenges of competitiveness and regulatory compliance, especially in light of the international standards framing the sector.

The participants also stressed the importance of adopting a comprehensive approach that combines legal compliance and operational efficiency, considering that securing production environments can be a real lever to enhance the confidence of international markets in the Moroccan pharmaceutical industry.

This initiative falls within a broader vision that aims to establish an integrated system for industrial cybersecurity, capable of keeping pace with the transformations that the sector is experiencing, and consolidating Morocco's position as a regional and African hub in this vital field.
