HIBAPRESS – Ahmed Al-Musaed
In the context of national and international efforts aimed at promoting the social integration of people with disabilities, Nadia Attia, President of the Moroccan Federation of Associations Working in the Field of Intellectual Disability, participated in the work of the national conference organized under the slogan "Sport, Diversity and Inclusion," which was hosted by the city of Rabat, hosted by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), and organized by the Moroccan Federation of Associations Working in the Field of Intellectual Disability, in partnership with the National University of Adapted Physical and Sports Activities, and in cooperation with a number of government sectors, educational institutions and civil society actors.
This conference was a qualitative stop for discussion and exchange of views between various stakeholders, at the national and international levels, on ways to use sport as a strategic lever to achieve social integration, and to promote the values of equality and equal opportunities.
In her speech on the occasion, Nadia Attia affirmed that "sport is no longer just a recreational activity, but has become an essential entry point for building an inclusive society, based on respect for human dignity, enhancing self-confidence, and enabling people with disabilities to fully and actively integrate into public life."
She also highlighted that the involvement of international partners, foremost among them ICESCO, reflects the growing importance of the issue of inclusion through sport, and enhances the exchange of experiences and best practices in this field.
She stressed that betting on inclusive sport requires adopting a comprehensive and integrated approach, based on effective coordination between various stakeholders, from government sectors, educational institutions and civil actors, in order to develop more effective public policies and practical programs with a tangible impact.
Nadia Attia called for the need to rehabilitate sports infrastructure to be more accessible and inclusive, expand the base of sports practice, and strengthen specialized training in the field of inclusive sport, to ensure the fair and equitable participation of people with disabilities.
This participation falls within the framework of the commitment of the Moroccan Federation of Associations Working in the Field of Intellectual Disability to continue its efforts in defending the rights of this group, and contributing to building a solidary society that enshrines the values of inclusion and social justice.
