The lawyer of the Senegalese fans, Patrick Cabo, confirmed that three individuals will leave Moroccan prisons today, Saturday, after serving a three-month prison sentence, against the backdrop of the riots that accompanied the final of the 2025 African Cup of Nations between the Moroccan national team and the Senegalese national team.
The speaker explained that the concerned individuals will go directly after their release to the city of Fez, in order to visit the Tijani zawiya and the shrine of its founder, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tijani, before returning to the Senegalese capital, Dakar, to join their families. In the same context, Patrick Cabo revealed that the defense team submitted a request for a pardon to King Mohammed VI, which includes the rest of the detained fans, in the hope of their release during an upcoming religious occasion. The lawyer conveyed the desire of those released to perform a religious visit immediately after their release, stressing that they prefer to go to Fez to pray before leaving Morocco, in a step that reflects the spiritual dimension of the trip. He also pointed out that some fans confirmed to him that there was no disagreement with Morocco or its people, considering that what happened was the result of tensions related to the circumstances of the match, and not hostile motives.
