Deportivo Alavés and Moroccan national team defender Abdelkebir Abakar has emerged as one of the key players for his team in the ongoing 2024-2025 season.
Having featured in every Spanish League match so far, Abqar has become one of the players coach Luis Garcia constantly relies on in the team’s defensive formation.
Growing European interest in Abqar
The genius of the Moroccan defender has not gone unnoticed as several European clubs have shown great interest in recruiting him during the upcoming winter transfer period.
This interest follows his remarkable performances in La Liga, which prompted some Spanish and Italian clubs to put him in their circle of interest.
Spanish and Italian clubs looking to sign Abakar
According to media reports, at least three Spanish clubs are monitoring Abdelkebir Abakar’s status with Alaves. The case concerns Sevilla and Valencia, who have entered the race to recruit him, as well as Rayo Vallecano, who also want to include him.
On the Italian level, Naples and Roma are among the clubs interested in his services.

Abakar’s future worries Alaves management
Club Deportivo Alaves finds itself in a difficult situation, since Abakar’s contract expires in June 2025. This situation worries the club’s management who fear his departure for free. The Moroccan defender’s market value is currently estimated at around €7.5 million, and with the growing demand for his services, this value could increase in the future.
Abakar, who only played two matches for the Moroccan national team, joined Walid Regragui’s team after excluding Romain Ghanem Saiss from some matches, increasing the player’s importance locally and internationally.
