US President Donald Trump affirmed to Fox News on Wednesday that there is no "time pressure" surrounding a ceasefire or agreeing on a new date for talks with Iran after negotiations stalled on April 12.
In his interview with Fox News, a day after extending the ceasefire with Iran indefinitely, Trump confirmed that the "3 to 5 day window" reported on the extension was "false". The American President also commented on the ships fired upon and seized by Iran on Wednesday in the Strait of Hormuz, saying: "They were not American ships," adding that he would closely monitor the situation. Speaking about the end date of the war with Iran, Trump said that "there is no timeline" and "no need to rush". He continued, clarifying: "People say that I want to end the matter because of the midterm elections, and this is not true." Trump stressed that his administration wants to "reach a good deal for the American people."
