HIBAPRESS – Mohamed Daher
The Ourika region is currently witnessing a state of alert among Al Haouz authorities, due to the registration of a sudden and powerful flash flood in the watercourse, following thunderstorms that occurred in the mountainous highlands surrounding the region. This has led to a rapid rise in the water level of the valley and the formation of sweeping torrents laden with mud.
The authorities have also issued urgent warnings, calling on the local population, visitors, and tourists to stay away from the riverbanks and to leave them immediately, while avoiding approaching bridges or attempting to cross waterways, to avoid any risks that may result from the sudden rise in water levels.
The heavy rainfall caused significant amounts of water to flow towards the valley's course, where the torrents submerged a number of road paths adjacent to it, while mud swept through a group of cafes and tourist facilities spread along the valley banks.
