The Governor of Al Hoceima Province, accompanied by the President of Abdelmalek Essaadi University, chaired an expanded meeting on Wednesday, September 09, 2026, at the province headquarters. The meeting was dedicated to monitoring the progress of the university complex and university dormitory in Ait Qamra, as part of the ongoing preparations for the start of the 2026-2027 academic year.
The meeting was attended by various stakeholders in the project, including representatives of the concerned sectors and institutions, engineers, study and supervision offices, laboratories, contractors, as well as relevant authorities and services.
During this meeting, the progress of work on the various components of the project was reviewed. A number of challenges related to coordination and monitoring were identified, and the necessity to accelerate the pace of completion, adhere to contractual deadlines, and enhance field monitoring was emphasized.
The responsibilities and commitments of the various intervening parties were also defined and included in a special report, allowing for the tracking of their implementation and adherence to the specified deadlines, with the aim of completing this university project under the best conditions.
Following the meeting, the University President and his accompanying delegation conducted a field visit to the various components of the project, where they inspected the progress of work and reviewed the arrangements made in preparation for receiving students for the upcoming academic year.
This university facility is part of the initiatives aimed at strengthening the university offerings in the province and achieving spatial justice by providing university institutions close to students. Ait Qamra is expected to host a number of programs from the National School of Commerce and Management, the Higher School of Technology, and the Faculty of Legal, Economic, and Social Sciences.
Given that not all components and equipment of the project are currently complete, transitional arrangements have been adopted to ensure the start of studies on time and to avoid impacting students' academic progression. In this regard, students from the National School of Commerce and Management and the Higher School of Technology will continue their studies at the National School of Applied Sciences and the Faculty of Science and Technology, while students from the Faculty of Legal, Economic, and Social Sciences will utilize the sports and social complex.
A series of organizational, logistical, and pedagogical measures have also been taken to ensure a smooth start to the academic year, provide suitable conditions for reception and study, and maintain coordination among various stakeholders to proactively address any challenges that may arise.
The field inspection showed tangible progress in the completion of several project components, with expectations that the concerned university institutions will become operational in the coming months, in parallel with the completion of remaining works and equipment.
At the conclusion of the meeting, emphasis was placed on the need to continue field monitoring and coordination among all parties, and to accelerate the pace of work, to ensure a successful launch of the 2026-2027 academic year, contribute to the operationalization of the university complex and university dormitory in Ait Qamra as soon as possible, and enhance the university offerings in Al Hoceima province.
