HIBAPRESS – Tangier
Security services in the city of Tangier arrested a 45-year-old Spanish national on Thursday, after identity checks revealed he was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by Spanish judicial authorities, on suspicion of involvement in cases related to international drug trafficking and money laundering.
The individual in question was apprehended during a field operation carried out by elements of the Tangier Police Directorate. A check of his details through the databases of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) showed that he was internationally wanted, in addition to residing in Morocco illegally.
The suspect was placed under judicial custody, pending the completion of the necessary legal procedures under the supervision of the competent public prosecution.
The National Central Bureau in Rabat was also informed of the arrest by its Spanish counterpart, in preparation for activating the extradition procedure in accordance with applicable laws.
This operation falls within the framework of security cooperation between Morocco and Spain, and the coordination of efforts to track down internationally wanted individuals, especially those suspected of involvement with transnational organized crime networks.
