The Moroccan Association for Human Rights, Tangier branch, has called for urgent intervention to guarantee the detainee Saeed Qanjou's right to treatment, warning of the deterioration of his health condition inside the local prison in Assilah, where he is serving a two-year prison sentence for his involvement in "Generation Z" protests.
The association explained, in an open letter addressed to the director of the local prison in Assilah, the Director-General of Prisons and Reintegration, the King's Attorney at the Tangier Court of First Instance, and the Minister of Justice, that the individual in question is suffering, according to the information provided, from severe chest pains and vomiting blood, while his health suffering has continued for more than two months, according to the same source. The association added that the detainee's health condition is continuously deteriorating, noting that his family had previously contacted the relevant authorities to demand intervention, but these steps, according to their account, have not resulted in a tangible response. The human rights organization called for urgent measures, including transferring the detainee to the hospital for necessary examinations under the supervision of specialist doctors, providing appropriate treatment and necessary medications, and ensuring continuous medical follow-up. The association also held the concerned authorities responsible for any repercussions that may arise from any delay in medical intervention on Saeed Qanjou's health condition, warning of dangers that may threaten his right to life, and demanding the guarantee of his right to health and treatment in accordance with the rules governing the treatment of prisoners.
