HIBAPRESS – Nador
The administration of the local prison in Nador has denied the validity of allegations circulating on social media regarding the placement of a Spanish prisoner suffering from diabetes in solitary confinement for a year at Silwan prison. It confirmed that since his admission to the institution, he has been housed in a communal cell with other inmates.
The administration of the institution clarified in an explanatory statement dated October 17th that the prisoner in question has never been housed in a solitary cell, noting that since the beginning of his detention, he has been placed in a communal cell in accordance with the classification appropriate for the charges for which he was arrested.
The same source added that the prisoner receives the necessary medical care, regularly takes medication for diabetes, and adheres to a special diet based on the instructions of the institution's doctor.
In a related context, the prison administration stated that the owner of the page that published these allegations is a former inmate currently residing outside Morocco, and accused them of spreading what it described as lies and allegations aimed at damaging the image of the prison administration sector and the reputation of its employees.
