The Moroccan Network for Human Rights and Oversight of Wealth and Protection of Public Funds in Morocco has called on the ministry responsible for the ports sector to send a fact-finding committee to examine all aspects of the wooden boardwalk project linked to the floating docks at the port of Tarfaya, demanding that responsibilities be determined and accountability be established based on the investigation's findings.
This demand comes in the context of calls to enhance transparency in the management of public projects and ensure their oversight and evaluation, thereby protecting public funds and verifying compliance with the standards and commitments related to their execution.
The network believes that sending a specialized committee would allow for assessing the actual situation of the project, examining its various technical and administrative aspects, and determining responsibilities where necessary, based on the findings of the inspection and investigations that concerned parties may undertake.
This demand also falls within the oversight roles undertaken by human rights and civil society organizations in monitoring public affairs and demanding clarification of data related to public projects, which strengthens the principles of good governance and linking responsibility to accountability.
Pending the reaction of the supervising ministry and competent authorities to this demand, field inspection and the issuance of official clarifications regarding the project remain crucial steps that would shed light on the data and determine the truth of the situation, far from any preconceived judgments.
