The Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, announced on Tuesday, October 20, in Oliva, Valencia province, that the government will declare the municipalities affected by the isolated upper-level low (DANA) "Adam" as disaster zones.
Mr. Sánchez confirmed in a press statement following a visit to the advanced command center in Oliva that the government "will certainly be present" throughout the reconstruction phase of the affected areas. He pledged to mobilize all necessary financial resources to enable the affected residents to restore normal conditions "as soon as possible," explaining that public procurement procedures will be expedited to ensure a rapid response. The Prime Minister also reiterated his call for the conclusion of a "broad national pact to confront the climate emergency," aimed at anticipating extreme weather events and dealing with them more effectively.
