Over the past ten days, the Anti-Gang Unit of the Judicial Police Directorate of the Laayoune Security Directorate managed to arrest 18 individuals suspected of involvement in various criminal cases, including a woman and a minor, as part of security interventions aimed at combating all forms of crime in the city.
According to available data, nine individuals were arrested on suspicion of involvement in theft-related cases, including theft from cars, homes, and shops, in addition to violent theft and theft accompanied by assault and battery using bladed weapons or vehicles, as well as other cases related to theft and physical assault.
Security interventions also addressed various cases, including suspected trafficking of hard drugs and "maء al-hayat" (water of life) liquor, threats and damage to the property of others, violence and threats against ascendants, assault and battery, trespassing into the dwelling of others, and threats with bladed weapons, in addition to a case related to neglecting to maintain or form the coverage of a check when presented for payment.
These operations resulted in the seizure of 28 grams of cocaine and 20 liters of "maء al-hayat" liquor, in addition to 415 liters of fermented raw materials suspected of being used in the preparation of this liquor. A sum of money suspected to be proceeds from criminal activities was also seized.
The arrested individuals were subjected to judicial investigations under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecutions, each within their jurisdiction, with coordination with the competent authorities that issued search warrants when necessary, in order to determine the circumstances and details of the cases attributed to the concerned parties.
These interventions are part of the continuous security efforts made by the Anti-Gang Unit of the Laayoune Security Directorate to combat criminal phenomena and apprehend those suspected of involvement, while continuing investigations according to current legal procedures.
