HIBAPRESS – Casablanca
The court issued prison sentences against three defendants in a case related to the Ibn Rochd University Hospital Center in Casablanca, which included custodial sentences and financial fines, in addition to civil compensation for the health institution and a number of civil claimants.
In the public prosecution, the court ruled two years of effective imprisonment and a fine of 5,000 dirhams against A.S., and one year of effective imprisonment and a fine of 5,000 dirhams against Dr. R.Sh., while sentencing M.A. to six months of effective imprisonment and a fine of 2,000 dirhams, with the defendants jointly bearing the costs.
The case, according to the disseminated information, is related to charges of impersonating a union official and defamation.
In the civil aspect, the court ruled to accept the civil claims in form and in substance, ordering the defendants to pay joint compensation amounting to one million dirhams in favor of the Casablanca-Settat Territorial Health Group, which replaced the Ibn Rochd Hospital Center in Casablanca.
It also ordered the payment of 200,000 dirhams in compensation in favor of M.A. and a similar amount in favor of F.Sh., in addition to 50,000 dirhams in favor of N.Kh., with costs and forced execution, and rejected the remaining requests.
In this regard, the judicial ruling issued against the defendants sparked considerable controversy, especially after the individuals involved had previously exposed serious irregularities at the university hospital.
