HIBAPRESS – Tangier
Data indicated that the fire that broke out yesterday, Friday, inside a wood and furniture factory in Tangier, which resulted in the death of one of the workers, is likely to have started during emergency maintenance work that was underway inside the workshop.
According to the available data, the work included welding operations and the installation of iron supports with the participation of a blacksmith, before a spark flew, suspected of having hit the sponge material, known for its flammability, and the fire then spread to wood and other combustible materials, which contributed to the spread of flames inside the factory.
On the social aspect, the same data indicated that the factory has an insurance contract that includes human resources, which opens the way for the family of the worker who died while on duty to benefit from compensation related to the accident, according to the applicable conditions and procedures.
As for the material losses, estimates from professionals indicate that they may exceed 300 million centimes, at a time when the fire caused extensive damage to the factory's equipment and materials, and affected a project whose owner was seeking to develop and expand his activity, in addition to its repercussions on the livelihood of its workers.
