The urgent criminal chamber of the Ibn Jerir Court of First Instance on Friday sentenced seven defendants, five of whom were in custody, to a total of 9 years in prison. The defendants violently resisted security forces during their arrest, using bladed weapons and ferocious dogs.
The same body sentenced "W.H." to four years in prison and a fine of 20,000 dirhams, "M.B." to two years in prison and a fine of 10,000 dirhams, "A.B." to one and a half years in prison and a fine of 5,000 dirhams, "A.B." to one year in prison and a fine of 5,000 dirhams, and the defendant "A.B." to six months in prison and a fine of 3,000 dirhams.
The court convicted the defendant "Z.L." and the defendant "A.B." to one month in prison suspended, and a fine of 500 dirhams each. It also ordered the destruction of the seized drugs in accordance with the law, the confiscation of the seized money in favor of the Public Treasury of the Kingdom, and the confiscation of the remaining seized items in favor of the State Property Administration.
The case dates back to Saturday, September 12th, when the suspects, all residents of the capital of Rahamna, were arrested in a house in the "Shuaibat" neighborhood. This was part of a decisive and specialized security operation involving several plainclothes and uniformed security units under the effective supervision of the head of the security district and the head of the judicial police.
During the operation, an undercover police officer was forced to use his firearm to neutralize the threat and immobilize the main suspect. This suspect, along with those arrested with him, was using the house to engage in corruption, drug trafficking, public intoxication, consumption of hallucinogenic pills, possession of bladed weapons, causing nighttime disturbances, and disturbing the peace of the residents.
