HIBAPRESS
The Netherlands was shaken by a horrific crime that continues to spark much debate, after the body of a young Moroccan woman named Hajer, 29 years old, was found on October 16th in a suitcase in the water along Amsteldijk in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, several days after she was reported missing.
Investigations confirmed that her death was a result of a crime, while police suspect she was killed shortly after her disappearance.
In a new development in the case, Dutch police arrested a 23-year-old Somali man on Tuesday, October 20th, on suspicion of his involvement in Hajer's death. His arrest followed a security intervention following a violent incident inside a house in the municipality of Koggenland, which resulted in the injury of a man he knew, who was then taken to the hospital.
Surveillance cameras had spotted Hajer with the suspect near the "Rai" center on October 4th, before police questioned him as a witness on October 19th. Further investigations then led to suspicion of his involvement in the case.
A member of Hajer's family had reported her missing on the evening of October 4th, before police released her photo on October 13th, in consultation with her family, after she could not be found. The suspect is currently subject to restrictions preventing him from contacting anyone except his lawyer, pending the completion of investigations aimed at uncovering the circumstances of the crime and determining its location.
