HIBAPRESS – Laayoune
In a security intervention reflecting the speed of response to criminal incidents, the Royal Gendarmerie Command in Laayoune managed to apprehend two suspects in a short time, on suspicion of their involvement in a storming and robbery operation that targeted the residence of the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire in the Foum El Oued area, on the outskirts of Laayoune.
The incident dates back to Saturday night, when unknown individuals broke into the aforementioned residence by force, before seizing a number of furniture pieces and other contents. This incident necessitated the intervention of the competent authorities and the opening of an investigation to identify those involved and uncover the circumstances of the incident.
Immediately after being notified of the incident, the Royal Gendarmerie elements initiated their field investigations and research aimed at unraveling the threads of the case. These investigations resulted in the apprehension of two suspects in a short period, pending the completion of legal procedures and the disclosure of further details related to the operation.
This incident once again highlights the challenges associated with securing seasonal residences in the Foum El Oued area, especially those that remain closed for long periods outside the summer season, thus posing the necessity of strengthening preventive measures to protect property and reduce instances of storming and robbery.
