The way a shop, whose owner holds a dairy shop license in the Al-Marabet neighborhood in the Al-Awamah area of Tangier, is being exploited has caused resentment among a number of residents. They claim it is being used as a nightclub for all-night gatherings that continue late into the night, sometimes extending into the morning. According to their statements, these circumstances are affecting their comfort and daily lives.
According to one resident's statement, the shop witnesses nightly gatherings and practices that he says include gambling, drug use and trafficking, and alcohol consumption, in addition to indecent behavior and altercations between some patrons.
Residents also complain about the loud music, shouting, and profanity, as well as cars stopping in front of houses, playing loud music, and dancing. The complainant stated that some of those who object to these behaviors are subjected to insults.
These situations, according to the same source, are affecting the daily lives of neighboring families, who find it difficult to sleep and rest, especially since a number of children are attending school and have to wake up early.
The speaker added that residents have previously filed complaints and communicated with local authorities and relevant bodies, but have not, according to his account, seen any tangible change in the situation.
The complainant pointed out that a security patrol had visited the place on one occasion, and its members spoke with the cafe's waiter, who denied the accusations against them. The patrol then left, and the situation returned to what it was, according to him.
He also spoke of some residents' fear of confronting the shop owner, who is said to boast about his ability to handle their complaints.
Given these circumstances, residents are demanding an investigation into the nature of the activity carried out inside the establishment and its compliance with the license it holds. They also call for addressing the complaints related to nighttime noise and reported practices, and for taking the necessary measures if any violations are proven, to ensure the comfort of families and their right to live in a quiet and safe residential environment.
