Heba Press – Agadir
One of the associations active in the field of health and the social of the city of Agadir organized a scientific meeting which included a certain number of specialists and researchers to discuss the question of dependence and its serious repercussions on the individual and society, in the light of increasing phenomena linked to violence and deviation in a number of cities and even village areas.
During this meeting, the various dimensions of the phenomenon of dependence were discussed, whether it be linked to drug addiction, alcohol or even behavioral dependence, because the intervention has stressed that dependence is not limited to aspects of health, but also has social, psychological and economic extensions which contribute to the compromise of the societal fabric.
The researchers underlined the direct relationship between the propagation of dependence and the high rates of crime and violence, stressing that a number of recent crimes that have shaken public opinion can be linked to an excessive abuse of narcotic substances, which stimulates the alarm on this growing phenomenon.
The symposium also addressed the role of the family, the school and the media in the prevention of the drug addiction, because the interventions were unanimously agreed on the need to adopt a complete multidimensional approach which combines consciousness, treatment and social and psychological support.
At the end of the meeting, the participants concluded the need to strengthen public policies linked to mental health and the fight against dependence, and to the expansion of the scope of centers specialized in treatment, as well as to support collective and educational initiatives aimed at strengthening the societal conscience of the dangers of this fart.
