HIBAPRESS
Rashid Afellal, the parliamentarian for the Ain Sebaa-Hay Mohammadi district, called for responsible handling of the protest gatherings in some areas, stressing that defending rights and freedoms is a legitimate constitutional right, but it must be done within the framework of respecting the law and institutions.
Afellal expressed his regret for what he described as "slipping into imported slogans and vocabulary," pointing out that some young people described their movements as "a war that has allies like Iran and Algeria," which he considered out of the national context, and an attempt to wrap social demands in ideological conflicts that do not serve the nation. The parliamentarian added: "A symbol like the letter Z, which the Russian president used to launch a war against a neighboring country and destroy its cities, cannot be replicated in a national discussion about rights. Our country, despite all the challenges, remains a state of institutions and law, united by the strength of the slogan 'God, Homeland, King', which is not just a slogan, but a title for the unity and sacrifices of generations who struggled silently from colonialism to the years of lead and beyond." Afellal affirmed that demanding rights must be accompanied by obligations, foremost among them respect for institutions and avoiding destabilizing stability, because that – in his words – is "what the enemies of national unity wish for." He concluded his statement by calling for a real national mobilization led by the living and patriotic forces for the homeland, in order to redress the damage and achieve social justice, and that is through "a strong government led by national men who put the interest of the nation above all consideration."
