HIBAPRESS – Ahmed Al-Musaed
A statement issued by the Regional Office of the National Health Union for the Eastern Region, a copy of which was received by the "HIBAPRESS" website, stated that the office held an extraordinary meeting on the evening of Monday, October 13th, to assess developments in the dialogue with the Regional Health Administration and discuss the previously announced protest program.
This meeting comes in the wake of the announcement by the Regional Council of the Union on October 4th, of a protest program that includes a regional sit-in at the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection for the Eastern Region and a subsequent regional march, in order to enlighten public opinion about the sector's imbalances and manifestations of corruption by some officials. The statement indicated that the Regional Director of Health initiated a meeting with the National Health Union on Thursday, October 9th, attended by representatives of all trade union offices in the region. During the meeting, the Union affirmed its categorical rejection of resuming the dialogue on issues that have been decided and recorded in official minutes. It was agreed to hold regional meetings on Friday, October 10th to assess the implementation of the minutes' conclusions and address urgent problems, and to hold a second meeting with the Regional Director on Monday, October 13th. After reviewing, at the October 13th meeting, the negligence of a group of officials in implementing their previous commitments, an agreement was reached stipulating the actual and direct supervision of the Regional Director over the implementation of the contents of the signed minutes and the resolution of urgent problems during the current week. At the conclusion of the regional meeting, which was held remotely, the union's activists decided the following: Postpone the implementation of the scheduled sit-in to Thursday, October 23, 2025, and link its cancellation to the full implementation of the conclusions of the agreed regional meetings. The National Health Union activists in the various provinces remain on alert, and the Regional Office is considered to be in an open meeting due to the exceptional nature of the stage that is witnessing "an attack on the gains of health women and men." Prepare to engage in all possible forms of struggle in the event of targeting any male or female employee, within the framework of the "policy of intimidation" as described in the statement. The National Health Union affirmed its continued struggle for its just causes and the right of workers to decent working conditions that preserve their dignity.
