Despite several years passing since its deterioration, Sidi Abed road still suffers from neglect, at a time when it is one of the most used roads by citizens, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, when traffic congestion and daily movement of residents increase.
The road, which has turned into a pitted section full of potholes and bumps, has become a source of real suffering for its users, whether pedestrians or owners of cars and motorcycles, as well as its dangers to physical safety, especially during nighttime periods and with poor lighting.
A number of citizens confirm that the condition of the road is no longer bearable, as the potholes cause repeated breakdowns of vehicles, hinder traffic, and increase the likelihood of accidents, in the absence of any real intervention that restores to it the minimum conditions of safety and quality.
In light of this situation, the demands of the residents addressed to the municipal council and the responsible authorities are escalating, calling for the acceleration of the road's repair and its inclusion within the priorities of urban rehabilitation programs, instead of settling for promises that have not found their way to implementation for years.
Local affairs observers believe that the continued marginalization of Sidi Abed road raises questions about the criteria for selecting road projects and the extent to which officials respond to the daily needs of citizens, especially when it comes to vital axes that serve a large segment of the population.
Waiting for a serious and responsible intervention, Sidi Abed road remains a witness to daily suffering, and an open message to the concerned authorities, the gist of which is that infrastructure repair is not a luxury, but a fundamental right of citizens, and an urgent necessity to ensure safety, dignity, and quality of life.
