On the occasion of World Water Day, the Al Khair Oued Cherrat Association, in partnership with Redal, launched a field initiative under the slogan "We Explain Water Today… to Protect it Tomorrow," in an innovative educational experience that aims to raise children's awareness of the importance of water as a vital resource, especially in light of the repercussions of the drought that the Kingdom has witnessed in recent years.
The program began with a visit to the Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah Dam, where the participants learned about the stages of water collection and the role played by the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water in treating and ensuring its quality before directing it to the distribution networks. After that, the children moved to the water complex of Abd El Hamid Barrada in Rabat, where they learned about water storage and management techniques to ensure the supply of the population in the best conditions. The journey continued to the water quality control laboratory of Redal in Temara, where they were informed about the precise control mechanisms that ensure that water meets national and international standards, and protect it from any pollutants that may affect public health. This ecological and pedagogical trip concluded with a visit to the wastewater treatment plant, as one of the major environmental projects supporting the principles of sustainable development, where the participants learned about the various treatment stages that allow the reuse of water in irrigating green spaces and other uses, which contributes to the preservation of this vital resource. This initiative culminated in the distribution of symbolic prizes to the participating children, in a step that aims to enhance environmental awareness among the younger generations and consolidate a culture of water conservation.
