‘Fatty Meals’ Cause Egyptian Boxer ‘Yomna’ to Be Banned from Paris Olympics

The press revealed last weekend that Egyptian boxer Youmna Ayyad had been excluded from the Paris Olympics for failing the weight test.
Egypt’s first female boxer to qualify for the Olympics was due to compete in the 54kg competition at the ongoing Games in the French capital, but Egyptian reports revealed that she failed the weight test before the start of the boxing competition, due to her weight gain after eating “fatty” meals.
Youmna Ayad was also expected to compete for one of the three medals, having qualified for the Olympics after winning gold at the African Championship.
The Egyptian boxer’s exclusion led to Uzbekistan’s Nigina Uktamova qualifying for the quarter-finals.
The Egyptian delegation is participating with the largest number of players in its history at the Olympic Games, with 148 main players, men and women, and 16 reserve players, for a total of 164 players in 22 sports.
