HIBAPRESS – Follow-up
US President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that there are "very positive talks" between the United States and Iran.
He also wrote in a post on the "Truth Social" platform, "Discussions with Iran may lead to positive results for all."
In addition, Trump revealed that countries from around the world have asked the United States for help in securing the exit of their ships stranded in the Strait of Hormuz.
He explained that these ships belong to "neutral" countries that have nothing to do with current events, pointing out that Washington informed those countries that it would work to guide their ships to safely cross restricted waterways, allowing them to resume their activities normally.
Trump added that he directed his representatives to make utmost efforts to ensure the safety of ships and their crews while leaving the Strait, noting that many of these ships suffer from a lack of food and basic needs necessary for the crews to remain on board in appropriate health conditions.
"Project Freedom"
He pointed out that this step, which was called "Project Freedom," will begin on Monday morning, Middle East time, stressing that it comes within the framework of a "humanitarian gesture."
Meanwhile, Trump stressed that any attempt to obstruct this humanitarian process "will be dealt with firmly."
"Significant progress"
The US President's post came after informed sources revealed on Sunday that negotiations between Washington and Tehran
made remarkable progress recently, according to Pakistani media.
The sources added that there is a real diplomatic opportunity that may lead to a breakthrough, in light of positive indicators of progress in the dialogue.
They also indicated that the next few days will be decisive in the course of the ongoing negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
Draft response to the Iranian proposal
Meanwhile, sources revealed to the "Axios" website that Washington sent a draft response to the amended Iranian proposal.
US President Donald Trump stated earlier on Sunday that Washington had studied Iran's latest amended proposal, which was presented days ago through the Pakistani mediator, indicating that it was "not good."
Trump said in an interview with the Israeli Broadcasting Authority that "negotiations with Iran are stalled and the latest proposal is unacceptable."
Tehran's 14-point proposal includes the withdrawal of US forces from the areas surrounding Iran, the end of the naval blockade, the release of frozen Iranian assets, the payment of compensation, the lifting of sanctions, and the end of the war on all fronts, including Lebanon, in addition to a new monitoring mechanism on the Strait.
While Tehran's proposal to postpone the talks regarding nuclear issues to a later time contradicts Washington's repeated demand that Iran accept strict restrictions on its nuclear program before the end of the war.
