As part of its preparations for the legislative elections expected on September 23, 2026, the Justice and Development Party announced a new batch of endorsements for the electoral list agents, following a meeting of the endorsement body chaired by the Secretary-General Abdelilah Benkirane.
These endorsements included two regional districts and eleven local electoral districts, in an organizational step that falls within completing the process of selecting the party's candidates, after a significant number of districts at the national level were previously decided. On the Souss-Massa region level, the name of Sanaa Akki, who hails from the Tata province, stood out, as she was chosen as the agent for the regional list, in a move that reflects a trend towards strengthening territorial representation within the lists. Also, at the regional level, Fatima Weshai was chosen as the agent for the Casablanca-Settat region list. The endorsements extended to include a number of local districts in various provinces, including Wadi Al-Dahab, Chefchaouen, Errachidia, Berrechid, Assa-Zag, Ousserd, Jerada, Taounate, Guercif, Chichaoua, and Settat, where the names of the list agents were decided according to precise organizational criteria. The party clarified that this process was carried out in accordance with the provisions of its basic and internal system, with the adoption of a precise procedure for selecting candidates, including studying nomination files, and deciding on appeals and apologies, before proceeding to a secret vote within the endorsement body. It is expected that the arrangement of the rest of the candidates within the local and regional lists will be completed during the next stage, based on the proposals of the list agents and in coordination with the regional and provincial organizational structures. This decision comes in the context of escalating political preparations to run for the 2026 elections, which are expected to witness strong competition between various parties, especially in regions with electoral weight, including the Souss-Massa region, which has begun to emerge as one of the arenas of political betting during the next stage.
