HIBAPRESS – Casablanca
With Eid al-Adha approaching, the journey of searching for the "Eid sheep" has turned into a complex mission for thousands of Moroccan families, in light of rising prices and varying prices between markets, yards and points of sale in different cities.
A number of citizens are now spending long hours moving between livestock markets in the hope of finding a sacrifice that suits their budget, especially with a noticeable increase in the prices of some known breeds, which has prompted many to expand the search radius or postpone the purchase decision until the last days before Eid.
A number of citizens confirm that the cost of purchasing the sacrifice is no longer the only source of concern, but the costs of transportation, feed and other Eid requirements have been added to it, which has increased the pressure on the purchasing power of families, especially those with limited and middle incomes.
In contrast, some livestock breeders and professionals are betting on an improvement in sales during the coming days, coinciding with the disbursement of wages and the increase in demand, while thousands of Moroccans continue the search for a "sheep" that combines the appropriate price and the required specifications.
