HIBAPRESS – Mohamed Manflouti
Security services at the Traffic and Road Safety Department of the Sétif Security Directorate have launched a wide-ranging security campaign to combat the phenomenon of law-breaking motorcycles, which has become a source of concern for officials and citizens alike. This is due to the rampant chaos on the city streets and around educational institutions, coinciding with the school year. Drivers of these motorcycles target young female students, bothering and harassing them.
Furthermore, the parks and gardens located at the northern entrance are not immune to the mischief and audacity of these young people, who instill fear among families fleeing the heat. Many of them ride their motorcycles at breakneck speeds through public spaces.
HIBAPRESS observed nighttime security patrols stationed in the city center as part of a campaign aimed at apprehending violators and taking decisive action against anyone who dares to endanger the lives and property of citizens, including the seizure of non-compliant motorcycles.
The campaign, led by the city's traffic and road safety services, resulted in the seizure of numerous motorcycles and the issuance of violations to their owners who did not comply with the law. Meanwhile, residents have called for the continuation and expansion of the campaign to include residential neighborhoods.
Coinciding with the start of the school year, educators and unionists have warned of the rising tide of this phenomenon around high schools and middle schools, with drivers of "c90" motorcycles performing acrobatic maneuvers to attract teenage girls and disrupt the educational environment. This phenomenon also worries parents who are concerned about the future of their children, and they are demanding the continuation of security campaigns to cleanse the area of the various forms of chaos affecting traffic flow.
