HIBAPRESS – Abdel Latif Baraka
The Directorate of Maritime Fishing in Boujdour has decided to prevent traditional fishing boats from sailing on Sunday, September 6, due to forecasts of strong atmospheric and maritime disturbances along the coast of the province, in order to protect the safety of fishermen and equipment.
The Directorate explained that the region will experience strong northeasterly winds reaching speeds of 40 knots (Beaufort scale 7), alongside northern waves that may reach a height of approximately two meters, urging fishing professionals to exercise extreme caution and adhere to preventive measures.
The decision comes at a time when the port of Boujdour witnessed overcrowding on Saturday, September 5, after variable winds and strong sea currents prompted a number of boats to return to the port to avoid the risks of sailing in difficult maritime conditions.
