HIBAPRESS
A police officer working with the anti-gang unit of the regional security in Taza was forced, in the early hours of Sunday morning, September 6, to use his service weapon to neutralize a person with a criminal record, who was in an advanced state of drunkenness and threatening the safety of people and property with a bladed weapon.
Initial investigation data indicated that the suspect and his companion, who was also drunk, assaulted a third person, also with a criminal record, with a bladed weapon, before they violently resisted and refused to comply with police officers during their attempted arrest.
The danger posed by the main suspect necessitated the intervention of the police officer with his service weapon, where he fired a shot that hit him in the lower extremities, which neutralized the danger and led to his arrest along with his companion, in addition to confiscating the bladed weapon used in the assault.
Subsequently, the injured suspect was kept under medical observation at the hospital, while specialized services initiated a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecution, to determine the circumstances and details of the case and to reveal the level and extent of the suspects' involvement in the committed acts.
